I thought yesterday was the first day of the month, so baked sample kolaches on Saturday. Mmmmm! Delicious! As recommended, I halved the recipe, but was daydreaming at the last stage and started to put the entire amount of flour in the other ingredients!
I managed to scrape out much of the flour, but still had to add more than 1/4 cup of additional milk to the dough to get it to manageable kneading consistency. Also, I didn’t make enough apricot filling, so had to substitute some seedless blackberry jam to fill the remaining kolaches. Not a good idea. The jam melted and leaked all over the baking sheet.
So, there you have it – a word to the wise!
